The Consumer Price Index, CPI, in May 2025 recorded a decrease of 0.5 per cent compared to May 2024, driven by declines of 0.8 per cent in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index; and 0.4 per cent in the Non-Food index. On a month-on-month basis, the CPI in May 2025 decreased by 0.1 per cent compared to April 2025. This was driven by decreases in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index; and the Non-Food index. The decrease in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index was mainly contributed by lower prices of Vegetables and Fish and Seafood. Meanwhile, the decrease in the Non-Food index was primarily driven by a decline in prices of Transport and Recreation and Culture.

The decrease in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index was mainly contributed by lower meat prices, particularly the price of chicken; and Fish and Seafood, mainly the prices of fresh fish and prawns. As for the Non-Food index, the decrease was driven by a decline in prices of motor cars and air fares. Additionally, the cost of online media streaming subscription services also recorded a decrease due to exchange rate differences.

CPI full report for May 2025 can be obtained at JPES' website, 'deps.mofe.gov.bn'.
