Second Meeting of Legislative Council Session to Discuss National Development Agenda

The Legislative Council informs that His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented for the Second Meeting of the 21st Legislative Council Session to begin on Monday, 10th Safar 1447 Hijrah corresponding to 4th of August 2025, at the Dewan Majlis, Jalan Dewan Majlis.

 

The Second Meeting will focus on Queries, Minister Statements and Formal Proposals, which among other matters discusses the national development agenda through deliberation sessions. Members of the Legislative Council will have the opportunity to deliberate on current issues, proposals and views towards issues of interest to the people and country.

 

The session will be chaired by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council and assisted by Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council. Members of the Legislative Council comprise Ex-Officio members and Appointed Members, including Titled Persons, Persons Who Have Achieved Distinction as well as District Representatives, who will convene in a harmonious atmosphere to review various issues and policies in achieving the agenda in the interest of the citizens and prosperity of the country.

 

The second Legislative Council session is open to the public. Those who are interested are welcomed to attend the session to witness the deliberations at Dewan Persidangan starting the 4th of August. Translation service to English is also available by applying for it 24 hours before attending the session.

 

Education institutions are invited to bring their students as an exposure on the Legislative Council, including the national legislative process, and deliberations within the Dewan Persidangan. Visit application can be made by writing an official letter to the Legislative Council Secretariat at least 5 days before the date of visit.

 

The daily session's recordings are available via RTB Perdana and RTB Sukmaindera at 9 in the evening for the morning session, and 11 at night for the afternoon session. Official documents such as Hansard, Minute of Meetings, and Order of the Day are available at 'councils.gov.bn'. The latest information and development will also be published at the official Instagram, '@LegcoBrunei'.

 

Visitors and the public who are attending the LegCo session are advised to adhere to the rules and guidelines, including the dress code, and the procedure when entering the Dewan Persidangan.
