'Hala Tuju' Programme Held at STPRI

 April 20th, 2016  |  05:08 AM  |   2590 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Counselling and Career Unit of Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI), in collaboration with the Department of Schools, yesterday organised a one-day Hala Tuju Programme (Directions Programme) for the Years 11 and 10x students, focuses on career options and plans for their future after their GCE 'O' Level examinations.

Among the agencies involved in the programme yesterday were Politeknik Brunei, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA), Allied Health Science Professions (AHSP) of the Ministry of Health (MoH), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Dental Services of MoH, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), LiveWIRE and Nursing Services of MoH.

The day's event included a small group career and academic talk for the Years 11 and 10x students as well as a career exhibition that showcased a vast career panel available from various government and private agencies.

The talks delivered yesterday highlighted the enrolment and entry requirements such as academic and health requirements as well as the interview processes for those who are interested to be part of the agencies. The exhibition also allowed students to speak - one-on-one with representatives from the participating agencies that they may be interested in being a part of in the future.

It is hoped that the programme will help the students to focus on a field that they are interested in.

The Years 11 and 10x students make-up the majority of the student visitors to the programme, but students from other levels were also welcomed to attend during break time.

The objective of the programme was to gather the Year 11 students and introduce them to a variety of career options and give opportunities for them to explore potential career paths available after completing their 'O' Levels.

It also aimed towards allowing the students a chance to build working connections and gain concrete advice from the participating agencies that were prepared to answer the students' questions.
