​Brunei Darussalam steps into 2024 with a titah by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam emphasising on His Majesty's Government's concerted efforts in cooperation with the private sector in diversifying the country's economy, producing very encouraging developments in the Non-Oil and Gas Sector. Hence, His Majesty stresses, these efforts cannot stop but must be actively continued to achieve a dynamic and sustainable economy.

 

In the titah in conjunction with New Year 2024 broadcast nationwide through radio and television, His Majesty also stresses on several matters, among them the 'Whole of Government' and 'Whole of Nation' approaches to achieve the objectives of Wawasan Brunei 2035, instilling Islamic values in all aspects of governance for the continuity and stability of the country, as well as the success of the country in maintaining peace, security and well-being for the 40 years since reaching full independence.

 

His Majesty began the titah by praying that 2024 will encourage more successful exploration of meaningful changes, both for oneself, family, society and the country.

 

His Majesty in the titah also stresses on the need for the country's civil service to review and implement improvements to policies and regulations.

 

His Majesty expresses hope for the National Retirement Scheme and minimum wage for certain sectors will be an encouragement for self-development.

 

Pertaining to education, His Majesty in the titah says the implementation of the Integration of Religious Subjects from Pre-School to Primary Three into the General Education System which began last November has raised various perceptions and reactions.

 

In relation to foreign affairs, His Majesty in the titah states that Brunei Darussalam also expresses a deep concern towards the violence currently ongoing in Palestine.

 

His Majesty in the titah says that this year, Brunei Darussalam will celebrate 40 years of full independence.

 

​His Majesty ends the titah with a supplication for Allah Subahanu Wata'ala to bestow a multitude of blessings to all.
