BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

A male permanent resident was sentenced today by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court under the Excise Order 2006.

 

66-year old Leong Fuk was found guilty for possessing 2 cartons, 2 packets and 15 sticks of cigarettes of various brands without a permit as well as cash amounting to one hundred and sixty dollars and 15 singapore dollars from the sale of cigarettes at a business premise in the Gadong area. The accused pleaded guilty and was fined five thousand dollars or five months imprisonment in default.

 

Meanwhile, Saiful Efendi, 45, was found guilty for possessing 23 cartons of cigarettes of various brands and 24 bottles and 24 cans of alcoholic drinks. The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined 24 thousand dollars or 18 months imprisonment in default. All contraband was seized to be handed over to the Government for destroyed. Cash from the sale of cigarettes was also seized and handed over to the Government for further action.
