CALAMBA CITY

The Department of Tourism (DOT)-Region 4-A (Calabarzon or the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area) has issued a travel advisory for travelers going to areas near Taal Volcano due to volcanic smog or vog.

In a notice issued by DOT-Region 4-A  Director Marites Castro, tourists, particularly the elderly, pregnant women, and children, were asked to postpone going to such places, especially if they have lung or heart disease.

Castro reminded that they are not allowed to enter Taal Volcano Island, particularly the Main Crater and Daang Kastila fissures without a permit from local authority.

She advised travelers to stay indoors and close doors and windows. If he must go out, use an N95 face mask and consult a doctor if necessary, Castro added.

Taal Volcano has been releasing smog which has led to health concerns and disruption.

The Department of Health has warned residents near Taal Volcano, especially those with respiratory and heart illnesses, the elderly, pregnant women, and children.
