BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Royal Brunei Recreational Club (RBRC) together with The Collective Art Events recently held a 'Give a little, to help a lot' charity event at the Aman Lounge of RBRC.

In an interview, the General Manager of the RBRC, Haji Kadri bin Haji Abdul Hamid said, "The RBRC is committed to organising this charity event as it is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility towards the community. Last year we managed to raise more than $6,000 and we hope that we can raise more this year."

Activities during the event included a breast cancer talk by Dr Haji Muhd Syafiq bin Abdullah from the Ministry of Health, cardio programmes such as Zumba, FX Fight, and Piloxing. Visitors also witnessed a friendly charity basketball game between Local DJs and Shooting Stars basketball team versus members of the management of RBRC.

A Breast Self-Examination demonstration to spot early signs and symptoms of breast cancer was also conducted at the event by Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC). Children from the Children's Cancer Foundation (YASKA) were entertained at the event with creative arts classes, McDonald's happy meals and a round of basketball with the Shooting Stars basketball team.

The event was held in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is celebrated every October. Proceeds from the event will go to the Breast Cancer and YASKA funds.
