Solat is a God-Ordained Obligation for Muslims

 May 7th, 2016  |  08:10 AM  |   4848 views

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

Yesterday's Friday sermon touched on the great event of Israk Mikraj that is filled with teachings and examples.

During the event, Prophet Muhammad SAW observed the greatness of Allah SWT and was also shown various miraculous occurrences and events of mankind's behaviour and the retributions that they will receive.

It is at the event's culmination that Allah S.W.T has brought down the commandment of solat or prayer five times a day to the muslim ummah.

The religious act of solat is very special to Allah S.W.T for Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. himself, directly received the commandment from Allah SWT at Sidratulmuntaha during the event of Israk Mikraj.

The commandment of solat is different from other religious acts such as fasting, payment of tithe, performing the haj and others which were received through divine revelations brought by the angel Jibril Alaihissalam.

This shows that the religious act of solat is very special to Allah S.W.T. Therefore the religious act of solat should not be neglected as the act of neglecting it is condemned by Allah SWT and those that do so are considered among the deviant.

Abdullah bin Abas Radiallahu anhu said the meaning of neglecting solat is not totally leaving the solat but delaying from performing it at the stipulated time.

Those who pass away with these conditions without repenting, they will be thrown into a valley called Al'ai in hell and given detestable food to eat.
