In Islam, the responsibility of family leadership lies on men. However, to ensure the family institution's success and harmony, both parents play a vital role.

This was underlined in the Friday Sermon 'My Family, My Hope'.

The sermon emphasised that a happy family is built based on piety towards Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala.

A happy family is family that loves and respects one another.

In Al-Quran, there are many verses that touched on behaviour and manners in regard to family, which are divided into three. 

The first is the relationship between husband and wife, in which harmony is needed as it will become a strong link in the family life. 

Second is the relationship between a parent and child. Children must do good, respect and care for their parents, while parents must raise and guide their children properly. 

Third is the relationship with relatives, and this also included building rapport with the poor. Hence, loving, respecting, and caring for one another are important elements that must be practised in a family in order to achieve happiness.
