Pele to marry for third time

 July 10th, 2016  |  10:45 AM  |   974 views

RIO DE JANEIRO,

July 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian football legend Pele will marry for a third time when he ties the knot with partner Marcia Cibele Aoki on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old met his 42-year-old bride in New York in the 1980s but the couple did not start dating until 2010, Pele told the Estado de S.Paulo newspaper.

Pele was previously married to Rosemeri Cholbi, with whom he had three children - Edinho, Jennifer and Kelly - and Assiria Nascimento, who gave birth to twins Joshua and Celeste.

Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pele is regarded by many as the best footballer in history.

He scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches for Santos, New York Cosmos and Brazil, and played in the national team's 1958, 1962 and 1970 World Cup triumphs.
