3rd Meeting Of The ASEAN Task Force On Peatlands

Regional Initiatives to support the ASEAN Program on Sustainable Management of Peatland Ecosystems, potential cooperation with dialogue or development partners, and review of the implementation of the ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy were among matters discussed at the 3rd Meeting of the ASEAN Task Force on Peatlands, ATFP. The meeting was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

 

The meeting was chaired by Dayang Martinah binti Haji Tamit, Acting Director of the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation. The update on the Roadmap on ASEAN Cooperation towards Transboundary Haze Pollution Control with Means of Implementation was also discussed. The meeting provides a platform for ASEAN Member Nations to discuss and strengthen cooperation towards successful development and implementation of ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy to achieve the goals by 2020.

 

The meeting was attended by delegations from ASEAN member nations, the ASEAN Secretariat, Global Environment Centre, European Union, International Fund for Agricultural Development, Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
