TEMBURONG

The 'Shell Eco-Marathon 2018' competition held in Singapore recently placed Politeknik Brunei in 10th position during "Make The Future Singapore" Festival. The polytechnic was among the 120 teams competing in the event. An appreciation and certificates presentation ceremony to the team and its sponsors was held yesterday morning.

The certificates were presented by Awang Denis Ho Mun Tai, the Director of Politeknik Brunei.  The Politeknik Brunei team was represented by 3 lecturers and 7 students while the sponsors were Brunei Shell Petroleum, Brunei Shell Marketing, Brunei Gas Carrier, Brunei LNG, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD, Aegion FYFE, IET, Royal Brunei Airlines, Aewon, Moc Sendirian Berhad, Keluarga Tasmera, Filterworks and Micronet. 18 countries participated in the competition in Singapore.

Apart from Politeknik Brunei, the country was also represented by Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Universiti Teknologi Brunei. This year Brunei Darussalam only participated in the 'Futuristic and Very Aerodynamic' Vehicle category. The competition tested the student's ability to build and drive a vehicle capable of the longest distance with the least fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission.  The Eco-Marathon is part of Shell's mobility campaign in exploring innovative methods and producing energy efficient fuel and motor oil.
