This year, the Fire and Rescue Department celebrated its 58th anniversary. In conjunction with the celebration, the Seria Fire Station, Operation 'B' Branch in the Belait District held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony.

Among those in attendance was Retired Colonel Pengiran Haji Maidin Bin Pengiran Haji Said, Director of the National Disaster Management Centre, who is also the Acting Director of the Fire and Rescue Department. Such a ceremony is one of the department's religious activities to encourage all levels of department's officers, personnel and staff to keep reading the Quran, and increase their religious deeds to earn blessings from Allah SWT. The ceremony ran concurrently with the presentation of donations for the Seria Fire Station Surau. At the function, an endowment in the form of two wheelchairs were also presented to senior citizens from the Lorong Tiga Seria Land Scheme for the Indigenous, another wheelchair to the Seria Fire Station's paramedic section, and funeral equipment's to the Lorong Tiga Selatan Land Scheme for the Indigenous Mosque.
