Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem says some Independents who contested in the election are frustrated at not being nominated as Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates.

He said while there were also genuine independent candidates, they could not do anything if they were elected by the people.

“There are several types of Independent candidates who are contesting in this election. There are those who wanted to be bought, contested out of frustration and the genuine ones.”

“So here in Serumbu, the independent candidate is contesting out of frustration, and he is not a BN man,” Adenan said yesterday to the loud applause of the 3,000 people who were present.

He was speaking at the meet-the-people session at Kpg Bijuray Mongag, a village under Serumbu constituency, one of the 11 new seats.

Present were Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri James Dawos Mamit, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communication Dato Sri Michael Manyin and BN canditate for Serumbu, Miro Simuh.

Adenan advised the voters in Serumbu not to be fooled by the independent candidate in the area who claimed to represent BN.

“I want to make it very clear here that he (Independent candidate) is not a BN, and I advise the people not to be fooled. There is only one BN man contesting here (in Serumbu) and he (referring to Miro) is here right in front of you all,” the chief minister said.

Adenan pointed out that as state BN chairman and as long as he is the chief minister, he would not accept independent candidates into BN.

He later approved RM500,000 to renovate the village community hall, the same amount he approved for Kpg Skio during similar occasion recently.

Meanwhile Dawos brushed aside the independent candidate who has been telling the people in the area that the BN candidate is politically immatured.

He said the BN candidate was involved in politics since 2004, 2008 and 2013 general election and accompanied him for parliament sittings.

The candidate is also his private secretary until his resignation this month to contest for BN.

“To say that he (BN) candidate lacks political experience is a blatant lie,” he stressed.
