BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Commemorative Souvenir Design Competition in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to the Throne commemorates the nation's historic day to mark the monarch's 50 years of leadership. Organised by the Commemorative Souvenir Secretariat Committee, the competition is also hoped to elevate the status and further develop the arts and handicrafts of the locals. This was explained by Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Murat, the Prisons Director as Co-Chairman of the competition's council during the prize presentation ceremony yesterday at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Prizes were presented by Awang Haji Idris bin Haji Md Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs as Chairman of the Commemorative Souvenir Secretariat. Dayangku Siti Nurul Nur Ashikin binti Pengiran Junaidi emerged as the winner of Category 'A' for Bruneian Citizens and Resident, while the runner-up for Category B opened for Higher Institutions went to Politeknik Brunei 2. Category C for Secondary Schools, Colleges, Pre-Universities and Institute of Brunei Technical Education was won by Chung Hwa Middle School in Kuala Belait.
