The late boxing legend Muhammad Ali has been honoured by the Government for his actions and spirit in upholding the principles of Islam.
His daughter Rasheeda Ali (pic) received a certificate of special appreciation on his behalf from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
It was in conjunction with the “Reviving the Islamic Spirit” programme by the Malaysian Islamic Missionary Foundation at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on Saturday.
According to Bernama, Jamil Khir said that Muhammad Ali, who died during Ramadan last year, had left behind a major legacy and was an inspiration to the world.
“I still remember when he fought Joe Bugner in Malaysia in 1975. The spectators were mesmerised by the prowess of the two boxers,” he said.
