​Two companies and three individuals were issued compound fines for offences under Section 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021.

The companies and the individuals were found dumping rubbish in public areas and public paths during the Operasi Bersih conducted by Officers of the Municipal Department, Bandar Seri Begawan recently. According to the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021, the compound rate for any individual or corporate body issued with a compound fine for an offence under Section 12 or any offence is: for individuals a compound fine not exceeding $1,000 and for corporate bodies a compound fine not exceeding $2,000.

The companies and the individuals were given 7 days to settle the fines. The Municipal Department, Bandar Seri Begawan reminded any individual and building owner or tenant to take care of the beauty, cleanliness, safety and well-being of Bandar Seri Begawan.
