Efforts To Address Empty Government Buildings

The First Meeting of the 20th Legislative Council session entered the fifth day, 4th March 2024, by approving the allocation for the Ministry of Home Affairs amounting over 133 million dollars. Prior to approving said allocation, several matters were raised such as the issue of empty government buildings. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development explained that assessments and reviews have been carried out for over one thousand empty buildings for the next action.
From the said assessments and reviews, there are 639 empty government buildings that have been demolished, and 213 buildings have been inspected to decide whether it is still intact and can be repaired, or have to be demolished.
