The Postal Services Department yesterday commemorated World Postal Day in a ceremony that saw the launching of the department's new mobile application named 'iPOST'.

The ceremony was held at the Amar Pahlawan Hall of the Ministry of Communications (MinCom) in Jalan Menteri Besar.

Present as the guest of honour was the Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat.

The ceremony, themed `Innovation, Integration and Inclusion' (Inovasi, Integrasi dan Rangkuman), commenced with a doa recitation followed by a welcoming remark from the Postmaster General, Haji Mohd Manan bin Haji Lakim.

In his remark, Haji Mohd Manan said the Postal Services Department is currently implementing various strategic initiatives towards achieving customers' demands and needs.

According to him, among the achievements that have been successfully implemented include the data-entry system, the AR Web Listing, door-to-door services, establishing customer service centres, collaboration with the Royal Customs and Excise Department for X-ray scans as well as parcel delivery by motor vehicle.

The event then continued with a cake-cutting ceremony by the guest of honour to officially mark World Postal Day.

This was followed by an award presentation to Daneel bin Alum who received the `Excellent Postman Award 2016' and Hardeeman bin Laiman for the 'Most Improved Postman for 2016'.

The awards were presented by the guest of honour.
