VIENTIANE

(KPL) The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UTD Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to further advocate youth empowerment through the Noi eco-system.

“With UNFPA’s technical assistance and UTD’s expertise in youth engagement, this partnership will empower adolescent girls and boys, promote youth leadership and civic engagement while accelerating the implementation of the Government of Laos’ commitments to International Conference on Population and Development Programme of Action (ICPD POA) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Mariam A. Khan, UNFPA Representative.

UTD, a leading Education Centre that provides the best free education services to help students pursue studies at their dream university abroad, will help facilitate and coordinate access to their rapidly expanding youth networks across the country.

UNFPA is committed to help youth reach their full potential, this partnership will mobilise young people to promote healthy lifestyles and build life skills and soft skills in areas such as sexual reproductive health rights, mental health, Gender and gender-based violence, bodily autonomy, languages, communications, leadership, and climate change through interactive means.

"I am very proud to start this journey, hoping to lead by example on the importance of the private sector in promoting youth in Laos and supporting their growth. I have always envisioned a future where young people can pursue their dreams of studying abroad through accessible pathways and scholarships, then return to Laos equipped with valuable skills and knowledge to make a meaningful contribution to their communities while leading fulfilling lives," said Ms Phetmany Viyadeth, UTD Founder.

UNFPA works with diverse partners towards common challenges. UNFPA Lao PDR is expanding partnerships, including those with the private sector, civil society organisations, financial institutions, academia and media, to support the Government of Lao in line with the 9th NSEDP.
