Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe is dedicated and committed to resolve the abandoned Star City project.

“I understand there are many complications with Star City which lasted for 18 years,

however I will make it my priority to see through the project and facilitate the request of the existing Star City buyers.

“I am here to help find the best solution for the interest of both parties, the existing

buyers and SUDC in this issue,” he said at a dialogue between Pekestar (Star City Buyers Association), Sabah Urban Development Corporation (SUDC) and Fusun International Holding Ltd on Saturday to help resolve the issue of the abandoned project.

Phoong who is Luyang assemblyman, also reiterated that he was elected by the people and it is his responsibility and duty to help solve any pressing issue here in Kota Kinabalu.

SUDC chairman Jamawi Jaafar recently said the project to be rebranded as “KK One”, will be redeveloped by SUDC together with Chinese builder Fusun International Holiding Limited.

The purchasers of the project, who comprise local residents, have been suffering mental anguish and financial losses, including some losing their hard-earned savings in paying bank loan interests, ever since they committed to buy units in the then Star City from 2007 to 2010.

Also present at the dialogue were Stephen Wong, president of Pekestar; Anthony Dumpangol, general manager of SUDC; Datin Leena Bohuntang, deputy general manager; and Chen Full Qing, project manager of Fusun International Holding Ltd.
