NA opens 4th Ordinary Session

VIENTIANE

 

(KPL) The 4th Ordinary Session of the 9th National Assembly was opened today, Dec 5 under the chairmanship of the national legislative body’s president Xaysomphone Phomvihane.

 

The opening ceremony for the three-week meeting witnessed the presence of Party Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh, other Party and government leaders and members of the National Assembly.

 

The three-week meeting is expected to discuss and make a decision on issues of national importance including Prime Minister's report on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, the state budget plan, the monetary plan over the past six months and targets set for the first half of 2023.

 

NA’s meeting will also consider the government’s report on the implementation of two national agendas namely the National Agenda on Addressing Economic and Financial Difficulties, and the National Agenda on Addressing Drug Issues.

 

Lawmakers will also discuss the adoption of several laws including three new laws - on passports, waterways and museums – and amendments to laws on lawyers, court registry, prevention and control of infectious diseases, enterprises, science and technology, military prosecutor's office, and electronic transactions.
