An immigration officer was produced in court yesterday to face charges of smuggling out seven Indonesian nationals and for leaving as well as reentering Brunei without a passport.
No plea was taken from Muhammad Nur Abdul Azim @ Muhammad bin Abdullah as DPP Atiyyah Alms applied for the case to be remitted to the Intermediate Court. Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman ordered the defendant remanded until October 1, 2016 and until the Intermediate Court calls the case for mention.
The defendant allegedly smuggled seven Indonesian nationals out of Brunei at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post into Miri on April 6, 2015 whilst not using his own passport to exit and re-enter Brunei the same day.
