The Magistrate's Court yesterday adjourned the case of a local man who was charged over the death of his three-year-old niece last month.

DPP Nurjauinah binti Haji Kula asked the court for time to finalise charges against the defendant.

Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin fixed September 6 for further mention of the case.

The man who is accused of causing the death of the girl at 8.30am on August 17, 2016 was arrested by the police at 9pm the same night.

The current charge the defendant faces, which is one of culpable homicide, carries a penalty of a maximum jail term of 15 years, or a fine, or both.
