Some 38 Vietnamese fishermen, aged between 49 and 21 years, were produced in the Magistrate's Court yesterday to hear charges of fishing in Brunei waters illegally.
The vessel master and 37 others who set out in two foreign registered vessels were detained last Wednesday at 8.45am when they were allegedly found fishing in Brunei waters.
DPP Vuina Song asked for time for the marine police to complete their investigations with the assistance of the relevant departments.
Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin adjourned the case to September 15 to allow the investigations.
Some of the defendants were ordered remanded at Muara Police Station whilst the rest will be held at Jerudong Prison until the next mention of the case.
