Singapore registered a record 1,939 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday (Sept 26), surpassing Friday's high of 1,650 infections, with 1,536 cases in the community, 398 in the migrant worker dormitories and five imported cases.

Among the local cases are 417 seniors who are above 60 years old, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

The ministry also reported that two Singaporean women, aged 69 and 97, died on Friday and Saturday respectively, bringing the death toll to 78.

Singapore has recorded a total of 87,892 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic last year.

A total of 1,203 Covid-19 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation.

There are 172 patients who are seriously ill and require oxygen support, and 30 in critical condition in the

intensive care units (ICU). Of those who have fallen very ill, 168 are above the age of 60.

Over the last 28 days, the percentage of local cases who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms was 98 per cent.

During the same period, 356 cases required oxygen support and 39 had been in the ICU. Of these, 51.6 per cent were fully vaccinated and 48.4 per cent were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Twenty-one people have died, of whom 28.6 per cent were fully vaccinated and the rest were either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

As of Saturday, 82 per cent of the population has completed their full regimen of Covid-19 vaccination, and 85 per cent has received at least one dose.

A total of 9,095,290 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna vaccines have been administered, covering 4,591,847 people, with 4,473,746 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 191,709 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organisation’s Emergency Use Listing have been administered, covering 88,301 individuals.
