Two men were arrested by Padawan police during an operation to curb the sale of online gambling top-ups yesterday (Aug 25).

In a statement today, Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said both suspects admitted to the crime when interrogated by police.

“During both arrests, police also seized their handphones and cash amounting to a total of RM350,” said Aidil.

The first suspect, a 22-year-old from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, was arrested at 3pm in a Matang Jaya cafe by Criminal Investigation Department personnel.

Police then raided a commercial shoplot in Matang Jaya at 3.30pm, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old from Batu Kawah.

“The second suspect also has a past criminal record for illegal gambling,” said Aidil.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
