The recent school holidays, which ended on April 3, was an opportunity for families to spend quality time and plan various beneficial activities.
Some of which were travelling outside the country, visiting places of interest within the country, holding a cleanliness campaign and activities at beaches and parks.
Over 25 former students of Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School (1974 to 1978 intake) and their families took advantage of the school holidays to hold a Family Fun Day at the Berakas Forest Reserve.
Among the sporting events to spice up the gathering were the straw connecting challenge, cups stacking with ping pong balls in it and a bowling competition using coconuts.
According to Awang Ramlee bin Bujang, chairman of the Family Fun Day, the aim of the event was to strengthen the ties among their families as well as to fill the school holidays with activities that are beneficial and healthy.
He added that what was most interesting during the event was a division of people wearing the T-shirt carrying the slogan 'my classmate' to all who participated in the event.
This division was a joint effort towards the goal of enhancing the spirit of friendship and also a symbol of one heart, one soul among former students and their families.
In addition to the events, Ramlee said they also planned to hold a welfare event in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan by holding a Tahlil (prayer for the deceased) and festive Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
