BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

A local man and an Indonesian man was brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrates Court for possessing customs contraband.

 

Suni Bin Haji Juman was found to be possessing 314 cartons of cigarettes of various brands and was fined 245 thousand dollars or 25 months imprisonment in default. The offence was discovered at Kampung Mentiri by the Royal Customs and Excise Department.

 

Meanwhile, Nur Maarif from Indonesia was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for defaulting fine payment of $10,000 for possessing 12 packets of cigarettes at Jalan Maulana, Kuala Belait.
