The Asia-Pacific Rainforest Summit 2016 Photo Competition Exhibition was launched yesterday at the Arrival Hall of Brunei International Airport.

Attending the launch as the guests of honour were the Dr. Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metu'ssin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, and H. E. Todd Mercer, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam.

The photo competition was organised in conjunction with the upcoming Asia-Pacific Rainforest Summit 2016, which will be taking place in Brunei Darussalam on August 3-5 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

The submission of photo entries ended on July 24, and required participants to highlight the value and express the importance of rainforests in the Asia-Pacific region.

These may include photos of rainforests and forest landscapes, the communities who live in and around forests, forest products for trade, health or nutrition, diverse flora and fauna that highlight the region's rich biodiversity.

The exhibition features the top 20 winning entries from 'The Jury's Choice Awards' which was already announced online on July 27. The first and second winners will receive cash prizes of US$1,000 and US$500.

The category was judged by Awang Mohammad Haranadi Buntar - Brunei representative, Kushla Munro - Australia representative, and Aulia Erlangga an independent professional photographer from the Asia-Pacific region.

The winning photo recipient for 'The Audience Choice Awards' will be announced online at www.cifor.org on August 2.

The exhibition at the Arrival Hall of the Brunei International Airport is open to the public from July 30 to August 14.
