KAMPONG JERUDONG, BRUNEI-MUARA

Some 60 orphans were presented with gifts at a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong yesterday.

The Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Takmir Committee organised the event in collaboration with the Khatam AlQuran Youth Group Mosques nationwide.

Present as guest of honour was Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs) at Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

This activity was aimed at promoting the love of the Holy Al-Quran as well as strengthening ties among members of the mosque youth groups across the country.

Also present were directors, senior officers and staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, mosque youth groups across the country as well as residents living in surrounding villages.

The event commenced with the recitation of prayers led by the guest of honour.

This was followed by the reading of verses of the Al-Quran and a Doa Khatam reading by Md Norhazim Wafiuddin bin Haji Kamaruzzaman, a youth from the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque.

Meanwhile, a prayer was recited by Md Hamizan bin Haji Awang, a youth from the Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

The guest of honour and Dato Tiong Ing Ping, General Manager EZY Printing Sdn Bhd, handed over two cartons of drinks to the orphans.
