Rector of UNISSA in Talks with President of Al-Azhar University

The Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal recently held talks with President of Al-Azhar University, Professor Dr Ibrahim Salah Hudhud at the University of Al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two institutions.
The UNISSA delegation included the Deputy Rector, Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin' Penyurat Haji Ahmad and Mazhab Shafi'e Research Centre Director, Dr Azme bin Haji Matali.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding, Al-Azhar University has sent three experts to serve at UNISSA on a contractual basis and is also willing to help the Shafi'i Research Centre in UNISSA in various aspects.
During their time in Egypt, the UNISSA delegation also paid a visit to the Deputy Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr Abbas Abdullah Abbas Shuman; the Secretary-General Majmak al-Buhuth al-Islamiyya, Professor Dr Muhyiddien Aflfi Ahmad; the Secretary-General of Rabithah al-Jami'at al-Islamiyya (Islamic Universities League); Deputy Presidents of Rabita Al-Azhar Alumni International; and other top officials of Al-Azhar University.
The UNISSA delegation was accompanied by officers from the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Cairo that included Attaché Officer for Education and Culture.
Al-Azhar University, which was founded in 970, is among the oldest universities in the world. It is one of the leading educational centres in the study of Islamic teachings.
