His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam began the State Visit to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste with the State Welcoming Ceremony. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace.

Immediately after arriving, His Majesty along with His Excellency the President proceeded to the Special Dais to receive the Salute of Honour accompanied by the National Anthems of both countries, and a 21-gun salute.

Shortly after, His Majesty boarded a special vehicle, accompanied by His Excellency the President, to inspect of the Guard of Honour mounted by members of the Defence Force of Timor-Leste and Timor-Leste National Police.

His Majesty then attended the Flag-Raising Ceremony with President Dr. José Ramos-Horta, which began with the raising of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste's national flag, followed with a minute of silence in honour of fallen heroes who had fought for the independence of the country.

This was followed with the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste Medal Award Ceremony. His Excellency the President conferred the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste to His Majesty in recognition of His Majesty's contributions and dedications.

His Excellency Dr. José Ramos-Horta in his speech reiterated his commitment to further strengthen relations by promoting cooperation in various fields.

His Majesty in a titah states that it is an immense honour to receive the prestigious accolade.
