USM Visit Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School

KG KASAT, BRUNEI-MUARA

Around 40 undergraduates and a lecturer from Malaysia Sabah University (USM) paid our school a visit on April 4, 2016. They brought in something different and we gained tremendously from it.

Instead of "the usual" showing them our cool school, the visiting party showed us how cool it is to stay in school and how to be wise about doing it too. They organised a motivational talk entitled 'The basics of studying and how to be a flying-colours student'.

The talk touched on how to prepare oneself for exams; concentration is paramount, getting accustomed to difficult questions by doing revision and tackling sample papers, and of course being skilful in time management.

Being able to keep the above mentioned in check is already going to give oneself a sense of achievement.

Otherwise, things could be tricky if one manages his or her time poorly.

We walked away with a better understanding of effective studying and positively motivated to excel in our upcoming exams.

Our deepest gratitude goes to Sayiddina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School (SMSUA) and USM for the incalculable knowledge shared.
