A total of 91 participants are competing in the National Level Adult Musabaqah Tilawatil Al-Quran quarter finals which began yesterday at the Kampong Belimbing Subok Mosque, until October 27, 2016.

Organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the four-day event will see 68 Qaris and 23 Qariahs showcase their proficiency at Al-Quran reading.

On the first day of the event, 17 male participants and nine female participants competed.

The competition began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah.

Present to watch the event were the judges and committee members of the event as well as students from the Anggerek Desa Religious School and Pulaie Religious School.

The National Level Adult Musabaqah Tilawatul Al-Quran Competition is aN annual project organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to choose the Qari and Qariah that will compete in the finals, in addition to fostering the talents of new Qaris and Qariahs in Brunei Darussalam.

This year's event is conducted by the Relations and Islamic Beliefs Development Division at the Department of Mosque Affairs under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Takmir Committee of the Kampong Belimbing Subok Mosque.
