Provincial Government Determined To Maintain And Preserve Customary Forest Areas

SAMARINDA, KN - Acting Provincial Secretary (Pj Sekdaprov) Riza Indra Riadi said through the Regional Regulation on RTRW of East Kalimantan Province for 2022-2042, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government is determined to maintain and preserve customary forest areas as one of the strategies in spatial planning for the province, especially forest areas. customs that have been established by statutory regulations, for example Paser Regency and West Kutai Regency.

 

"In addition to customary forest areas, there is also social forestry in the form of community forests, community plantation forests and partnership forests as well as private forests that have been regulated in the indications of zoning directions," said Riza Indra Riadi when representing the Governor of East Kalimantan delivering answers to the general views of the DPRD factions. East Kalimantan on the Draft Regional Regulation on Regional Spatial Planning (RTRW) of East Kalimantan Province for 2022-2042, at Building D of the East Kalimantan DPRD, Monday (19/9/2022).

 

Riza believes that with the East Kalimantan Provincial RTRW Regulation in 2022-2042, customary forest areas through customary law communities are able to play an important role and make a major contribution in the field of development and improvement of the regional economy and encourage them to move in a more advanced direction.

 

In addition, Riza continued, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government is also committed to accelerating the transformation of the economy from non-renewable resource-based to renewable resources, and allocating funding for the implementation of low-carbon development plans through the policies that have been issued so far.

 

"The provincial government is committed to continuing the five-year priority programs in the RTRW including land and forest rehabilitation and reclamation programs, as well as soil and water conservation, peatland pollution and damage control programs, as well as sustainable forest management programs, pollution control programs and environmental damage, through sub-activities of coordination, synchronization and implementation of greenhouse gas emission control, climate change mitigation and adaptation," said Riza.
