Creative Space Art Gallery started its first EMERGE exhibition on Saturday, April 2, which will continue until May 1. EMERGE is an initiative by Creative Space Brunei to provide a platform for young local artists to gain experience and exposure both in the country and globally.

This project aims to train the creative youth to transform their art into a sustainable and relevant trade as well as a source of income.

The first year-long cycle of project EMERGE starts this month with nine artists taking part, contributing 19 pieces of artworks.

The exhibition is curated by Awang Haji Osman Mohammad, the Creative Managing Director of the gallery with the assistance of Awang Khairul Ibrahim and Osveanne Osman.

There will be three more EMERGE exhibitions for 2016 with the finale showcasing the accumulative work throughout the year-long cycle.

Each exhibition aims to create awareness for more than just one community tied to the creative industries. The month-long exhibition includes collaborative events based on the premise of the EMERGE project.

The public can expect activities such as the EMERGE market where they can visit the gallery to view art as well as enjoy goods produced by local vendors on April 29.

The most exciting activity in conjunction with the exhibition is the gallery's signature practice, the 'BIG ART JAM'. Members of the public are welcome to the five hour session to collaborate with the EMERGE artists on the day (May 1) to set free their artistic expression.

Creative Space Art Gallery and Studio aims to bring about more activities in efforts to add to the ecosystem of the local creative industries.
