The Ministry informs the public, especially Muslims that with the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as part of measures to curb the spread of the global pandemic, the Brunei Islamic Religious Council on the advice of the Ministry of Health and the view of Syarak ruling based on the said Fatwa, the Council has decided to temporarily close All Mosques, Surau And Religious Halls In The Country for a period of one week starting from the Subuh or dawn prayer tomorrow, 17th March 2020 until the Isya' prayer on 23rd of March 2020.

Before the end of the period of closure, the Council would reassess the development of the pandemic. Secondly, the purpose of the closure is an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
