National Assembly Opens Its 7th Ordinary Session

VIENTIANE

 

(KPL) The 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature was opened this morning in Vientiane in the presence of the President of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou, President Bounnhang Vorachit, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and other Party and government leaders, and people’s representatives.

 

The meeting will last through Jun 25.

 

Following the opening remarks by the NA President, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith briefed the meeting about the government performance in the first four months, including its implementation of the national socio-economic development plan and the state budget plan.

 

The Prime Minister also briefed the people’s representatives about economic estimates for the first half of the year, and plan for the next six months.

 

Human resource development and the promotion of the tourism sector were also reported at the meeting.

 

Over the next three weeks, members of the National Assembly are expected to consider and approve reports on the implementation of court rulings, the addressing of land-related disputes, draft laws and amendments to some laws, including Law on Taxation Management, Law on Income Taxes, Law on Concise Taxes, Law on Land, Law on Forest, Law on Vocational Education and Law on Disaster Management, among others.
