Dr M Admits Selangor MB Is Capable Of Being PM

CYBERJAYA

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad admits that Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (pic) has the potential to be the next prime minister if Pakatan Harapan wins the 14th general election.

The Pakatan chairman, however, said that although Azmin was capable, he was not chosen by the Pakatan leadership.

On Friday, Dr Mahathir claimed he did not want to become the prime minister but he was asked to accept the role. “Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I have to respect those who supported and believed in me,” he said in response to criticism of his candidacy by Sangeet Kaur Deo, the late DAP chairman Karpal Singh’s daughter.

Meanwhile Azmin said he was ready to offer his Gombak parliamentary seat to Mahathir. “Let’s be united for the sake of the rakyat,” the PKR deputy president said in a tweet last night.
