2 foreigners were sentenced to imprisonment for offences under the Immigration Act Chapter 17.
37-year old Indonesian man, Djoko Wiyono, was charged for two offences. For the first offence, he was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of the cane for entering and staying in the country without any valid immigration pass. Meanwhile, another one year was imposed for the offence of re-entering the country without any written permission from the Immigration officials after being deported.
Meanwhile, an Indian man, Mohan Durairasu, 31 years old was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of the cane after his Immigration pass has expired for 306 days. Defendant was arrested on 7th December at the Jalan Puragam area, Kampung Penaga National Housing Scheme in Seria.
