ZAGREB

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated that Croatian economy in 2016 would grow by 1.9 percent, higher than the previous forecast of 1 percent, Croatian daily paper Jutarnji List reported on Tuesday.

According to the latest IMF World Economic Outlook, inflation would reduce to 0.4 percent in 2016 from 0.5 percent last year, but for 2017, it was expected to significantly speed up and reach 1.3 percent, it said.

The unemployment rate this year was forecast to go down by 0.5 percent to 16.4 percent from 16.9 percent last year, and it would further decline, reaching 15.9 percent in 2017.

The IMF includes Croatia in emerging European economies whose growth forecast reach 3.5 percent and 3.3 percent for 2016 and 2017 respectively.
