Opening Ceremony of International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services

The Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services have become more appealing, due to positive reactions to halal issues both domestically and abroad. It does not only involve food and drink products and consumer goods, but also income. The Minister of Religious Affairs was speaking during the Opening Ceremony of the 6th International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services 2023 and International Expo on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services, in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition, MYCE 2023. The ceremony was held at Balai Khazanah Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in the capital. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman also stated on the need and importance to empower the halalan thayyiban products and services to comply with the requirements of the Syara namely Maqasid Shari'ah.
Yang Berhormat added the needs and importance require products and services to be of good value in the parameters of Preservation of Religion, Life, Intellect, Progeny, and Property.
Earlier, Pengiran Dr Hajah Norkhairiah binti Pengiran Haji Hashim, Director of Halalan Thayibban Research Centre as Chair of the Seminar in her speech explained that the theme “Memperkasa Kelestarian Halal melalui Maqasid Shariah" or Empowering the Perpetuity of Halal through Maqasid Shariah are chosen as part of the commitment to contribute to the government's effort in promoting and enhancing the local halal industry. The keynote presentation titled 'Contemporary Fatwa Challenges in Facing Modern Food Products and Consumerism' was delivered by Associate Professor Dato' Doctor Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The speaker among others explained the importance of contemporary fatwas in relation to food products and current consumers towards solving the current issue among Muslims. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism and His Excellency Professor Dr. Hamit Ersoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the country.
