ASEAN-Korea Cooperation for Supply Chain Facilitation between parliaments and businesses and ASEAN-Korea Sustainable Cooperation: the roles of Parliaments and businesses on climate change were among the matters discussed during the Forum between the parliaments of ASEAN and Republic of Korea on 1st and 2nd of June 2023 at Jeju, Republic of Korea.
Brunei Darussalam's delegation was represented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman and Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Mumin, Members of the Legislative Council. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi in a statement explained the importance of maintaining and developing close relations between Korea and ASEAN to ensure the progress and economic growth of both parties will not be hindered by the current conflict.
Regarding the issue of climate change, Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty emphasised that Brunei Darussalam recognised the need to achieve a balance between economic growth, social development and environmental protection which forms the basis of sustainable development. Brunei Darussalam allocated 2 point 1 million dollars to fund the establishment of the ASEAN Climate Change Centre, which will act as a climate research body in the region.
