Jennette McCurdy updated her fans on an upcoming project, shortly after her name was not included in the news about the iCarly reboot.

Jennette McCurdy is staying focused on the future.

Fans of teen TV have been aflutter after it was announced on Wednesday, Dec. 9 that iCarly is returning with a revival on streaming service Paramount+. It will feature original stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress and is set to debut new episodes in early 2021.

However, devotees were equally quick to voice disappointment that McCurdy was not mentioned as returning to the rebooted project. McCurdy played Sam Puckett on the Nickelodeon show that signed off in November 2012 after six seasons. She reprised the role on Sam and Cat opposite Ariana Grande, although that series ended in July 2014 after 35 episodes.

McCurdy has yet to comment publicly on the revival or whether she might still appear on it down the road, but she took to her Instagram Story shortly after the announcement was made to update her fans on her podcast Empty Inside.

"Also a few big thank yous to everyone who helped out with season 1 of empty inside," she wrote on Wednesday, tagging three people. "you guys are amazing !!"

She also added, "and an extra special thank you to all the empty inside listeners !! season 2 coming soon." The 28-year-old performer ended the message with a smiley face.

During its initial run, iCarly focused on teenager Carly Shay (Cosgrove), who launches a web series with pals Sam (McCurdy) and Freddie Benson (Kress) while living with older brother Spencer Shay (Trainor). Also not mentioned as returning from the original show's core cast is Noah Munck, who portrayed Carly's kooky friend Gibby.

After playing Sam, McCurdy nabbed the lead role on the Netflix dystopian series Between. She now hosts Empty Inside, and she debuted her one-woman show I'm Glad My Mom Died in February 2020, in which she explored her mom's 2013 death from cancer and the challenges that came with stardom at a young age.

In March 2019, she penned an essay for Huffington Post about her struggle with disordered eating that began when she was 11 and continued throughout her time on iCarly.
