St George's School Organised Hari Raya Celebration

The happy occasion was graced by Anthony Liew, the Chairman of the School Board of Governors, and his spouse; Dayang Hajah Nooradinawati binti Haji Zakaria, an officer from the Private Education Section of the Ministry of Education; Ustaz Yahya bin Haji Said and Ustaz Haji Rosliman bin Haji Usop, officers from the Department of Islamic Studies at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as the former teaching staff of St George's School.
Also in attendance were N M Mubarak, the school's Deputy Principal, as well as Awang Mohidin bin Haji Momin and Awang Selomi bin Haji Idris, joint chairpersons for the festivities. The gathering commenced with a Doa and Takbir Hari Raya Aidilfitri recited by Ustaz Awang Hafizzuddin bin Masri, Awang Hasrin bin Abdul Rahman and several male students from Year 6 to Year 11.
In his welcoming speech, Principal Janidi Jingan touched on the mood of the occasion and said it was part of the school's efforts to expose students to diverse cultures through awareness, understanding and tolerance.
He added that it has always been the school's conviction to observe and celebrate any major festival in the spirit of togetherness.
There was a splendid array of festive food and drinks served on the tables, contributed by students, parents and teachers. Dressed in their finest Raya costumes, everyone took part in singing festive songs while enjoying the food.
There were also prizes awarded to the best-dressed teachers in traditional Hari Raya attire.
