Local Athletes to Participate in ASG 2016

The Asean Schools Games— (ASG) 2016 was launched at Chiang Mai University Convention Center, Thailand.
Attending as a representative to Brunei Darussalam is the ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Thailand, Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Abdul Manap.
The Asean Schools Games was officiated by Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Thailand's Tourism and Sports minister. The audiences also witnessed various performances presented by Chiang Mai's school students.
The competition will take place in Chiang Mai, Thailand for nine days starting July 29.
Over 1,600 athletes will be competing in a total of 11 sports events namely Athletics, Golf, Sepak Takraw, Badminton, Basketball, Gymnastics, Tennis, Ping Fong, Swimming, Netball and Futsal. This year's ASG will be participated by seven countries, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and also Thailand.
Brunei Darussalam will be led by Pengiran Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Halus, Acting Director of Administration and Services, Ministry of Education. Brunei will join two sports events, Athletic and Sepak Takraw. Bruneian athletes participating this year consist of students from various secondary schools. As preparation, the athletes have been undergoing training for several weeks by the appointed coaches.
