Bayern Munich Won't Sign another Attacking Player - Carlo Ancelotti

GERMANY

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out signing another attacking player in the wake of Arjen Robben's hamstring troubles and Mario Gotze's return to Borussia Dortmund.

"We are well covered in those positions," the 57-year-old told ESPN FC ahead of the club's summer tour to the United States. "Even with Robben picking up a little injury, he'll be ready for the start of the season, so all positions are really well covered. We don't need another player, we are enough and we are competitive."

In light of spiralling prices in this summer's transfer market, Ancelotti praised Bayern for "being quick and smart" in tying up deals for Germany defender Mats Hummels from Dortmund and Portuguese Euro 2016 winner Renato Sanches (Benfica) well ahead of the new season.

The Italian revealed that he was very much involved in the decision-making process.

"I spoke to the club," Ancelotti said. "I think to improve the team, it was important to have good central defenders and to try to get a midfielder to improve the competitiveness of the squad in midfield.

"Together, we found the right players and the right solutions. Mats Hummels, with his great experience, and Renato Sanches, with his enthusiasm, will certainly help the team to be better."

Bayern kick off their tour of the U.S. against AC Milan on July 27 (on ESPN2). They will follow that match with friendlies against Inter Milan on July 30 (ESPN News) and Real Madrid on Aug. 3 (ESPN 2).
