BATU BERSURAT, GADONG

D'sunlit advanced to the final of the SpeedSend Cup after a dramatic 108-105 overtime victory against Juramas at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.

Undefeated D'Sunlit snatched a decisive two-pointer to level the game 86-86 in the fourth quarter and send the game to overtime before Carl Montgomery rescued Juramas from the brink of defeat in the final few seconds before the buzzer in the second overtime period.

Juramas had dug deep in the fourth quarter erasing a seven point deficit before taking a point lead but D'Sunlit somehow tied the game.

Both teams faced a short wait when Carl Montgomery struck a three-pointer just milliseconds after the buzzer was sounded marking the end of the second overtime period.

With Juramas resigned to fate, the referee signalled the end of an exhilarating tie awarding D'Sunlit the victory. They will now face either Easyway or Street Rol who contested the second semi-final match.

During overtime, Juramas had the chance to gain an upper edge over D'Sunlit but American import Devon Sullivan came up with a perfect block to thwart the shooter.

D'Sunlit coach Alan Talanay hailed the performances of his players in particular the defence.

"First of all, hats off to my guys. They've worked really hard and they deserved to win," Talanay said in an interview with the Bulletin after the victory.

Talanay also paid respects to their opponents labelling them as a "pretty good team" who pushed them all the way in the tightest of finishes this competition has ever seen.

Talanay hailed the organised defence indicating *making the right sub as a key element of their success.

"The guys really did a good job in trapping the players. They really deserved the win," he added.

Talanay continued that they have, to make a lot of adjustments for the final match whilst dropping a hint that they would face title favourites Easyway.

The coach knew the task in hand in the final but is optimistic of getting a result.

"The ball is round and it is a matter of teamwork and playing hard. If we keep on doing what we are working on, we will get there," he concluded.
