Taekwondo Duo Knocked Out of 18th SUKMA Games

PETRA JAYA, KUCHING

 

Brunei Darussalam taekwondo exponents Batrisyia Rafbanah binti Rapawi and Hidayah Tul Fitri Haji Masri were knocked out of the 18th Sukma (Malaysia Games) in the opening round at the Stadium Perpaduan in Petra Jaya, Kuching yesterday.

 

Batrisyia Rafhanah fell to a devastating 13-0 loss to eventual winner Sarawak's Rebecca Anak John Nedek in the fly weight over 46kg and not exceeding 49kg while Hidayah Tul Fitri suffered a 15-3 loss to Sabah's silver medallist Christina Clara in the fin weight not exceeding 46kg category.

 

Meanwhile, Brunei cyclist Amiruddin bin Haji Mohammad Amir was placed 15th overall out of 21 entries with a time of 01:02:59.81 in the 40km time trials male individual while his compatriot Abdul Mu'iz Yuzaini finished in 17th place with a time of 01:04:09.81.

 

Terrenganu's Mohamad Nur Aiman bin Mohd Zariff won gold with a time of 00:56:17.75 while Johor duo of Eiman Firdaus bin Mohd Zamri and Muhammad Nur Aiman bin Rosli claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

 

Swimmers Nur Haziq Samil and Ashley Chai Xin Rou will be aiming for personal bests with the former set to compete in the men's 200m freestyle and the latter in the women's 50m backstroke at the Sarawak Aquatic Centre in Petra Jaya today.

 

Meanwhile in wushu, Mohammad Adi Salihin bin Roslan will be competing in the male nanquan while Ang Guat Lian will be competing in the female taijiquan.
